Construction of a Primary School in Rubavu – Rwanda

Iriba-Brunnen e.V. has been supporting the construction of an inclusive school in Rubavu, in the northeastern part of Rwanda, since 2019.
The supported school is the Malaika School, currently a preschool. It is committed to the inclusion of disadvantaged children, particularly children from underprivileged families (Batwa) and street children, enabling them to attend school. Our organization is supporting the construction of a school building, where a primary school for 250 children is planned. The long-term goal is to enable these and other children to obtain a primary education certificate.

Our partner in Rwanda is the organization Youth in Action for Development (YADE) and the associated Ecole Malaika, based in Rubavu, Rwanda. YADE is a recognized association in Rwanda and has been working for several years on a diverse and comprehensive package of measures to improve the situation of children.

Our goal is to promote children through education, strengthen the disadvantaged minority, and facilitate their integration into society. From the beginning, students learn to live together and respect one another. We aim to improve living conditions through educational measures and support the strongly disadvantaged minority. In doing so, we contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
